This plate containing three
Onnia sp
, is from the Upper Ordovician- Ktaoua Formation, Erfoud in Morocco.
The preservation of all three trilobites is superb, the perforations on the cephalic shields have been well-prepped out and the genal spines are intact.
The entire plate (matrix and trilobites) measures 4.22 by 3.55 by 1.1 inches.
There is a repair running through the biggest trilobite. In the trilobite -collecting world this is not a detriment. Trilobites are found by smashing open rocks- and the specimens often get broken as a result. It is rare to find an entire, unbroken trilobite. And if one is found, they usually are sold for a premium amount. Many sellers do not disclose that their fossils have been repaired as the repair is often very well done, and virtually undetectable. I believe in full disclosure.
