The Burner has been modified over the years but lamp is still functional - Sherwood incorporated Burner
The wind up internal fan is still in great condition for age and working
The Hitchcock lamp was created with a motor mechanism, wound by a clock key, that powered a fan to cut down on smoke. The air is drawn up through the stem toward the burner, so that a chimney was not needed. The mechanism would run for 10-14 hours when wound.
