Kahiko Tiki Mug - Custom Glaze.
The Kahiko tiki mug design is based on the Marquesan style tiki heads that were left behind by a lost civilization in Sanxingdui, China.  The heads and carvings are believed to be over 3000 years old.  I find it very interesting how tiki styles can be so similar and be thousands of years and miles apart.  Kahiko is the Hawaiian word for ancient.
Design by Kaku Kaku (me), sculpt and mug production by Munktiki Imports.  I am doing small batches of these mugs in various glazes.  This mug is a glaze combination I named "The Mistake".  Earlier this summer I was glazing mugs, and grabbed the wrong bottle.  Later on I realized what had happened, and wrote down the glaze combination, and "Mistake".  The mug went into the kiln with its friends, and the next day it was the best of the bunch.  I have made the same mistake 4 times now, this is number 3.  If you are looking a specific color send me a message , and I might be able to make one.
This is a very large and heavy mug.  6 inches tall, 6 inches wide, will hold 28 ounces.  The Kahiko really looks good on the shelf, I always like mugs that seem to stare at you from across the room.  .
