Banks asked to freeze accounts of Quader, Sheikh Selim, S Alam secretary

Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU) today asked banks to freeze the accounts of Obaidul Quader, Awami League general secretary and former road transport and bridges minister, and former lawmaker Sheikh Fazlul Karim Selim and their family members. 
The BFIU also ordered freezing the accounts of Md Akiz Uddin, a former deputy managing director of Islami Bank and personal secretary of S Alam Group Chairman Mohammad Saiful Alam, and his family members.  
The accounts, that also include those of their business entities, have been ordered to be kept frozen for the next 30 days, according to a letter. 
The BFIU has also ordered the banks to provide detailed information of all the accounts by the next five working days.
